Case Studies

Last year Lincolnshire folk celebrated their county’s special day in a variety of weird and wonderful ways. These are just a few example case studies but why not draw inspiration for your school, business or street to follow? You could raise money for a local charity in the process!

  • Staff and pupils at xxx School in xxx held a Lincolnshire Fancy Dress Day to raise money for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. Children paid £1 to dress up as famous Lincolnshire people and yellowbelly cupcakes were on sale in the lunch hall.
  • Dinner ladies at xxx School in xxx prepared a special Lincolnshire Day lunch featuring Lincolnshire sausages, Lincolnshire baked potatoes, Lincolnshire Poacher cheese, Lincolnshire broccoli and Lincolnshire plum loaf for afters.
  • Workers at xxx in xxx donated £1 and wore yellow clothes on Lincolnshire Day. Employees who went the whole hog and wore all yellow were entered into a prize draw and the winner, xxx xxx, won a weekend away at the xxx xxx Hotel in xxx.
  • A Lincolnshire Food and Drink Festival took place in the market square in xxx. The event featured a farmers' market, samples from Batemans Brewery and Tom Wood's Brewery, Lincolnshire sausages and pork pies and Lincolnshire cookery demonstrations by Rachel Green.
  • Bateman's Brewery celebrated Lincolnshire Day by launching a brand new Lincolnshire Day beer called Batemans Lincolnshire Rising.
  • BBC Radio Lincolnshire ran a competition and offered a prize to the first listener every day who spotted the special BBC Lincolnshire Day car as it drove round the county.
  • Residents in xxx organised a Living Lincolnshire Flag by issuing volunteers with coloured cards. They then posted video and photographs of their handiwork on the Internet.
  • Lincolnshire rock band xxx wrote and recorded an updated version of The Lincolnshire Poacher and posted the song on MySpace.
  • RAF display team The Red Arrows performed a special aerobatic manouevre above Lincoln cathedral using yellow smoke to celebrate Lincolnshire Day.

    Come and celebrate Lincolnshire Day, Thursday 1st October at the Epic Centre on Lincolnshire's Showground at the first Lincolnshire Business Convention.

    The theme, sustainability will be echoed through a panel of Lincolnshire speakers whose businesses have survived 100 years plus.  Guest speaker is the renowned co-founder of Innocent Drinks, Richard Reed.

    It will be a great opportunity to network with other businesses from around the County whilst enjoying a sumptuous ‘Tastes of Lincolnshire' lunch.
